Financial Controller

TOKU is a cleantech company empowering operations with digital visibility through our ILLUMASS IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) platform. We do this by creating digital visibility through the ILLUMASS platform, which is revolutionizing the way the global oil and gas industry monitors production operations: pipeline leakage detection, pumpjack efficiencies and tank levels. Since only 10% of wells and pipelines are digitally monitored, ILLUMASS has dramatically impacted how the industry operates by giving producers continuous and unprecedented operational visibility and insights with a simple, accurate and affordable solution that did not exist previously. We do this by connecting cost-effective, industrial-grade wireless sensors to smartphones and mobile apps.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a part-time Controller to oversee all aspects of our corporate accounting and aid in the development, implementation and monitoring of internal control policies and procedures.  Duties will include managing the accounting records, preparing internal financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, training, supervising and managing the accounting staff, and ensuring the accuracy of all financial information.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all accounting operations including billings, A/R, A/P, GL, inventory
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes and procedures
• Prepare monthly GST returns and bank reconciliations
• Prepare monthly inventory adjustments and reconciliations
• Prepare and analyze intercompany billings and reconciliations
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and streamline accounting functions
• Additional controller duties as necessary

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
• 5+ years of overall accounting experience
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with day-to-day bookkeeping and in preparing financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end closing process
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, including in-depth knowledge of QuickBooks
• Highly motivated, results-oriented self-starter with excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong leadership qualities
• Strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities
• Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable working with a wide range of people in a team environment, independently and collaboratively
• Proven working experience as a Controller is an asset

LOCATION

• This position will be based in our Calgary, AB office
